This session will review how the decision was made to transition to pouch packaging, the choice of multi-dose and unit dose format, length of cycle fill and the operational impact to the pharmacy. Ed will also discuss how the pharmacy achieved the goals of reduced packaging and labor costs while providing waste reduction and increased medication access at the facility. Additional topics include a hybrid dispensing model using medication cabinets, eMAR and barcoding with pouch packaging. This session will focus on practical tools and methods for converting to a short cycle dispense method.
