This workshop is designed for pharmacists who aspire to develop their physical assessment skills. This physician and pharmacist-instructed program is an innovative approach in comprehending core techniques of the patient interview and assessment of the geriatric patient. The workshop will provide the necessary tools to understand and interpret the written physical examination section of the H&P, develop basic physical assessment skills, apply physical assessment findings to medication monitoring, and effectively communicate pertinent physical assessment findings to the health care provider. Patient interviewing, medical history taking, critical thinking, and triage skills will be emphasized. If you are a practicing geriatric pharmacist, or looking to enter this exciting specialty, you will find this course beneficial.
The program will provide each attendee a course syllabus and resource list. Each topic will include workshop periods for participant demonstration of skills and assessment by faculty. Physical contact with a workshop participant and/or instructor will occur during interactive physical assessment activities.
